Hello All

Finally got my licence and looking forward to my first outing at SMSP in January?

Linden has helped me with advice on lockwiring etc (Thanks Mate)

But my Daytona 955 has No Belly catch pan (standard type bottom fairing)
I have one on order but it wont be here in time for January.

Will my bike pass scrutineering without one?

Also what exactly is sharks tooth?

Can anyone offer some advice here please

Regards

Tom Palmai

Did the 955 ever come in a 1/2 faired version - or tell 'em its a naked with a top faring - no need for a belly pan if no lower faring on original bike!

Andy how did you do it ?

Hi Tom,
the bike already has the sharks tooth on it (rear sprocket protection)
It depends who you get and how picky they want to be at scrutineering as to whether the belly pan is an issue. when I raced it in Nov 2013 at SMSP they didn't mention it and then Feb 2014 suddenly it was an issue. They still let me race but said it needed to be done by next race meet... they always seem to find something new to pick on with the 675 too. everywhere else they seem to be very practical, SMSP is a mixed bag.... good luck.
I won't be racing at the 1st club round coz I'm going overseas the day after but I'm still planning on coming out as a spectator so I'll see you there

Manual of Motorsport 2012
15.2.1.8 With the exception of 'Period 1-5 Historic
machines' and production-based machines without a lower fairing which have ADR
compliance, all machines, including sidecars, must be fitted with an integral lower fairing dam or separate catch tray, which must be
constructed to trap and hold engine oil and / or coolant:
a) For 4-strokes machines, a capacity of at least 3 litres,
b) For 2-stroke machines, a capacity of at least 2.5 litres,
c) With no less than 2 holes, each of 25mm, which may only be opened in
wet race conditions.

John still has his 955. I seem to remember him saying he wrapped cardboard to form shape to lower fairing and fibreglassed it. Rough but worked as required

Try some of the race glass people -- wet 4 u -- race glass etc on the net -- you will be able to pick one up cheap -- or try bike wreckers for a bottom fairing

Enter it as a speed triple, at least you'll be able to get the first round in. They're bullet proof anyway.
