In conjunction with John Cully pty ltd a licensee of Budget Car and Truck Rentals announce the 2008 Thruxton cup

Very popular in the U.S. and England , Triumph Thruxton cup challenges are providing affordable, turn key, close and competitive racing with surprisingly large grids.

Some of the appeal is obvious such as the low purchase price of the bike, normally $13,990 but at the time writing only $12,990 due to Triumph Australia offering a discount.

What is not obvious is what a sweet little thing it is to ride and race. 

To reduce the cost of racing, there will be a very limited amount that can be done to the bike.

• Fork internals, rear shocks, air injection removed, rear sets, exhaust, quick action throttle, brake pad compound, gearing and that’s about it.

• Tyres are open and the standard item is fine for some number of races, Craig White of White’s Racing Products can supply replacement Bridgestones at $155 front and $140 rear. - (The eighteen inch front wheel rules out slicks)

The provisional venues for the five national rounds will be, Broadford, Winton, Eastern Creek, Mac Park , and Phillip Island .  The four club championship rounds will be at Wakefield Park , Eastern Creek (Combined with nationals), Wakefield Park and Oran Park .

Prize money will be first $300, second $250, third $250, fourth $200 and fifth $150, at the nationals and club, plus trophies of course.

There will also be a one off $500 prize at the end of the seasons racing for the best turned out bike,  they are very good looking bikes and  riders will be encouraged to be creative in the presentation of there machines. - The promoter’s bike will not be eligible.

A “demo” bike will be available at the following venues and dates if you would care to do a few laps on a machine prepared for racing.

The first ten riders’ to commit will receive a free flyscreen/numberplate and a passenger seat cowl/numberplate.
